The 22 Major Arcana

    The 22 Major Arcana

In Tarot, all cards are important, but the grouping of them is more significant than the individual cards. Therefore, knowing the value, importance, or meaning of each card is crucial, but it’s even better if one knows how to combine the meanings of the cards, as what they can tell us is more and better.

That is why it is very important to develop intuition when making predictions because, in reality, it is intuition that will tell you whether to group the cards or not, and when that grouping ends and another begins. This is also why, many times, when someone is called for a Tarot reading, not much information is given initially, and then it starts to flow, as in reality, as the cards are dealt and read at each moment, at each second, the reading becomes clearer and provides more information.

Generally, it is common to use a deck that contains 78 cards; 22 are major arcana, and the rest are minor arcana. The major arcana are known as the path of life because, in reality, their succession indicates a path we walk in life, even multiple times. The minor arcana are divided into four suits: cups, wands, pentacles, and swords; the suits go from 1 to 10 in number, and then the court cards begin: page, knight, queen, and king.
